The DSP5200.2HC provides full-range playback in a horizontal centre-channel package. Built by hand in the UK, the Meridian DSP5200.2HC is a Digital Active loudspeaker which uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology. This ingenious, yet elegant design means that the loudspeaker enclosure contains the loudspeaker’s advanced digital processing and precision analogue circuitry - including its powerful amplification.
The DSP5200.2HC is designed for mounting on a shelf, under a large-screen TV, or behind an acoustically transparent projection screen and is ideal for partnering with other Meridian free-standing or in-wall loudspeakers. The DSP5200.2HC features unique Centre Elevation technology which raises the centre image for the perfect movie experience.

With its extensive Research and Development programme Meridian has pioneered the development of a host of innovative audio technologies many of which feature in today’s Meridian products.
The traditional setup – amplifiers driving passive loudspeakers – is inefficient, limiting sound quality. Meridian loudspeakers contain a complete, matched audio system with efficient DSP crossovers, multiple DACs and driver-specific amplifiers, giving higher overall quality, less power use, and the performance of a traditional loudspeaker eight times the physical volume.
When a centre-channel loudspeaker is below the video display, that's where the sound seems to emanate, not from the screen, detracting from the experience. Loudspeakers behind the screen introduce other problems. DSP in a Meridian centre loudspeaker psychoacoustically raises the sound image to centre-screen – where we expect it for the most involving movie or concert experience.
Each sample of a digital recording must remain evenly spaced in time. Unfortunately, timing can vary, especially when reading discs. This is “jitter”, degrading music's sense of space and diminishing realism. Meridian's multiple “First In, First Out” buffering system minimises jitter, ensuring perfect timing and improved clarity. You enjoy a clearer feeling of the instruments and their interrelationship.
Filters are critical in digital audio. Commonly they introduce distortion and harshness because of "pre-ringing". Early digital recordings suffer from harshness too, due to primitive filters. After painstaking research, Meridian developed a special filter that avoids pre-ringing, so it can be steeper, cleaning up the effects of early filters. The result: a better, cleaner sound from recordings old and new.

Uses a complex digital filter to double the rate of samples from the source to improve resolution of the finer details in the record. This means that even with a standard source such as CD using our upsampling technology we are able to significantly enhance the listening experience.
A patented Meridian audio format that combines high bandwidth, security and low jitter. MHR gets the highest possible sound quality in playback systems that use Meridian and enables the encoded transmission of PCM, MQA and DSD.
