Quality Engineer

This role will be responsible for maintaining customer standards and expectations alongside managing Meridian’s Quality Management System (QMS).

 

Responsibilities

  • The Quality Engineer's responsibilities include designing quality standards, inspecting materials, equipment, processes, and products, developing quality control systems, and determining corrective actions.
  • You will also work with managers and supervisors to implement quality measures.

 

Main Duties

  • Developing and implementing quality standards
  • Developing and implementing quality control systems
  • Monitoring and analysing quality performance
  • Inspecting and testing materials, equipment, processes, and products to ensure quality specifications are met
  • Collaborating with operations managers to develop and implement controls and improvements
  • Ensuring that workflows, processes, and products comply with safety regulations
  • Investigating and troubleshooting product or production issues
  • Developing corrective actions, solutions, and improvements
  • Reviewing codes, specifications, and processes
  • Lead and promote a customer focused, quality first approach within Meridian
  • Perform company internal audits
  • Review Quality issues and determine the impact on the business
  • Manage and coordinate Quality meetings
  • Report on the Quality performance of the business

 

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Degree in quality, industrial, electronic, or mechanical engineering or demonstrable relevant work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or a similar role.
  • Experience coding and using QA software tools and processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Knowledge of test processes for sophisticated electrical equipment

 

Additional beneficial experience:

  • ASQ certification preferred
  • Ability to work well with all disciplines particularly production and engineering
  • A successful quality engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and products consistently meet established quality standards.

Graduate R&D Engineer

This role will be responsible for designing, testing, and validating electronic hardware for Meridian’s range of audio products. Build prototypes and run up PCB’s. Get involved in taking products from initial concept through to production. To understand our business-to-business partners requirements and deliver hardware solutions.

 

Main Duties

  • Circuit design and simulation
  • Schematic capture
  • PCB layout
  • Thermal design
  • Creation and maintenance of design documentation & software. Record specification designs, drawings, bills of materials and test data.
  • Create test procedures to verify hardware designs.
  • Develop and test power electronic circuits, digital logic, microcontroller, and analogue circuits.
  • Evaluate and debug circuit design.
  • Help with managing obsolescence, including identifying and designing alternative parts.
  • Build test equipment to qualify electronic modules for production.
  • Provide support to the Service and Production departments to resolve design and other hardware/firmware issues.

 

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Good Degree in a related field (electronic engineering, audio engineering, acoustics, physics, maths).
  • An interest in music and music reproduction
  • Read schematics

R&D Technician

This role will be responsible for supporting the Engineering Department in developing products, including prototype builds, parts listing and generating costings. To manage and implement engineering procedures, methodology, and documentation.

 

Main Duties

  • Manage the delivery of prototypes and development platforms from concept.
  • Generate parts lists.
  • Produce costings.
  • Build prototype PCB’s and electronic assemblies.
  • Develop best practice assembly methods.
  • Support and assist product introduction.
  • Production support.
  • Assist in obtaining EMC and safety approvals.
  • Manage and generate ECN’s Concessions and PSCR documentation.
  • Update and maintain technical construction files.

 

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Electronics qualification.
  • Electronics knowledge
  • Ability to read schematics and understand PCB layouts
  • Experience in wiring and building prototypes
  • A knowledge of constructional safe practice

 

Additional beneficial experience:

  • Awareness of electrical compliance requirements.
