Meridian Audio’s signature sound quality is
now available to Sonos users
Meridian Audio is now certified by the Works with Sonos™ programme, offering a new integration for our premium audio equipment to seamlessly connect with the Sonos sound system. This new integration makes it even easier for customers to enjoy our signature audio quality while streaming from more than 100 music services available in the Sonos app, by providing the ability for Meridian speakers to instantly wake and change inputs by simply pressing play in the Sonos app.
Works with Sonos enables users to seamlessly stream music from their Sonos app to their Meridian systems while allowing them to control their music anywhere around their home using the Sonos interface.
Meridian products can become part of an existing Sonos Home Sound System, or be the start of a new one, by simple pairing with a Sonos Port (or Connect). After a simple set-up procedure Meridian products will seamlessly tie into Sonos, instantly waking, changing inputs and playing at the volume you command through the Sonos app.
The Meridian system can be grouped with other Sonos devices on the network or be enjoyed independently.
Meridian products that carry the Works with Sonos certification include the Meridian 218 and 251, with the 818, 861 and UltraDAC coming soon.
"The sound quality is fantastic, and it takes the performance potential for Sonos to the next level. The deployment is effortless and takes no more than a few minutes — it really is perfect integration"
With its extensive Research and Development programme Meridian has pioneered the development of a host of innovative audio technologies many of which feature in today’s Meridian products.
As pioneers and leaders in the field of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology, Meridian is able to deliver your music authentically to recreate the passion and involvement of your musical moments. Power-efficient, active DSP crossovers are individually tailored to distribute music to each speaker, bringing your music to life.
Each sample of a digital recording must remain evenly spaced in time. Unfortunately, timing can vary, especially when reading discs. This is “jitter”, degrading music's sense of space and diminishing realism. Meridian's multiple “First In, First Out” buffering system minimises jitter, ensuring perfect timing and improved clarity. You enjoy a clearer feeling of the instruments and their interrelationship.
Filters are critical in digital audio. Commonly they introduce distortion and harshness because of "pre-ringing". Early digital recordings suffer from harshness too, due to primitive filters. After painstaking research, Meridian developed a special filter that avoids pre-ringing, so it can be steeper, cleaning up the effects of early filters. The result: a better, cleaner sound from recordings old and new.
MHR was the first approved encryption method for transferring high definition digital audio between components. Previously, it had to be in the analogue domain, reducing quality. MHR allows secure movement of high resolution digital audio within a Meridian system, without compromise, improving quality by reducing cyclic repetition.
