Meridian Image Focus applies a combination of gains and delays in order to correct for off-centre listening and ensure that the original soundstage is maintained.
In the ideal listening setup, the listener will be sat equidistant from the left and right speakers, however in real-world setups this cannot always be achieved, and the listener(s) will be sat closer to one of the speakers. This leads to a distortion of the soundstage and in extreme cases can lead to the sound “collapsing” to the nearest speaker.
Speakers cannot always be positioned equidistant from the listener(s) which leads to a distorted soundstage.
Image Focus uses a combination of gains and delays to give the impression that the speakers are equidistant from the listener(s).
