Meridian have conducted extensive research into the use of emotive words to describe sound, in order to provide a more intuitive interface for EQ.

CHALLENGE

Traditional audio EQ (tone) controls are based on the adjustment of various bands of the audio frequency spectrum. This acts as a barrier to their use, meaning many listeners simply ignore them. Rather than losing the potential benefits such controls can provide, how do we make EQ easy to use and accessible to everyday listeners?

SOLUTION

Meridian engineers conducted extensive research into how emotive terminology can be used to describe the effect of changes to the presentation of sound. A simple and clear interface featuring intuitive, semantic descriptors allows anyone to easily shape and personalise their listening experience to how they want it to feel.
