Meridian Audio has been selected by GOL, one of Brazil’s leading airlines, to deliver premium in-flight audio experiences for passengers on the airline’s new Insignia Business Class by GOL.

This  marks another significant milestone for Meridian’s growing aviation business, with GOL becoming the company’s ninth airline customer worldwide and its first airline in Latin America.

As GOL expands into long-haul international travel, Meridian’s in-flight headset will debut on the airline’s inaugural Rio de Janeiro to New York route this July. Further routes from GOL’s Rio hub to Paris, Lisbon and Orlando are set to follow throughout the year.

The Meridian Headset for Insignia Business Class

Designed specifically for air travel’s unique acoustic environment, the Meridian headset combines clear, balanced sound with advanced noise cancellation that cuts cabin noise by nearly 50%. The result is a quieter, more comfortable and more immersive entertainment experience for passengers throughout long-haul journeys.

Alongside the Meridian headset, passengers travelling in the new Insignia Business Class by GOL will benefit from an individual 16-inch touchscreen, fully reclining seats, additional personal space, greater privacy and personalised amenity kits.

“GOL are exactly the kind of customer we look for: ambitious, fast-moving and committed to the passenger experience. As the airline moves into long-haul premium travel, sound becomes part of how that journey feels,” said Iwona Helfer, Partnership and Events Manager, Meridian Audio.

“The Meridian headset for GOL is designed to make the cabin quieter and more comfortable, so passengers can relax and arrive feeling more refreshed.”

Air travel presents a distinct set of challenges for audio performance. Engine noise, cabin pressure and the acoustic properties of the aircraft cabin all influence how passengers experience music, dialogue and film soundtracks in flight.

Engineered for these conditions, the Meridian headset uses a custom-engineered drive unit and advanced noise cancellation tuned specifically for the realities of the aircraft environment. By reducing cabin noise, passengers can enjoy entertainment at lower listening volumes without compromising clarity, while dialogue remains crisp and intelligible throughout the journey.

GOL’s move into long-haul international travel is supported by a new fleet of Airbus A330neo aircraft and the introduction of its Insignia Business First cabin. With Meridian onboard, the airline is bringing premium sound to a new generation of international passengers travelling from Brazil to destinations across North America and Europe.
